Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Secret Maa collects when you visit secretmaa.org or sign up to be a Secret Maa, why we collect it, and what we do with it. The platform is currently in its sign-up phase. No financial contributions are being collected at this stage. This policy will be updated before contributions open, and every registered Secret Maa will be informed of material changes by email or WhatsApp.

If anything in this document is unclear, write to us at namaste@secretmaa.org and we will explain it in plain language.

1. Who we are

"Secret Maa", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the Secret Maa initiative, accessible at secretmaa.org. Secret Maa is a platform that lets people of any age, gender or background support child nutrition in India, working alongside paediatric specialists, nutraceutical manufacturers and NGO partners.

For the purposes of this policy, Secret Maa is the data controller for the information you provide directly to us through the website.

2. What we collect

2.1 Information you give us when you sign up

When you sign up to be a Secret Maa, we ask for:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Mobile number

  • Age

  • City

  • State

That is all. We do not ask for your address, identity documents, financial details, religion, caste or any other sensitive personal information at the sign-up stage.

2.2 Information you give us in other ways

If you contact us by email, reach out about a partnership, or send a press enquiry, we will hold the information you choose to share in that message — typically your name, email and the contents of what you wrote.

2.3 Information collected automatically

The site is built and hosted on Framer. When you visit, basic technical information may be collected by Framer and any analytics or hosting services they use. This typically includes things like your approximate location (city or country), device type, browser, and pages viewed. This information is used to keep the site running and to understand site traffic at an aggregate level.

We do not place tracking pixels of our own. Any cookies or similar technologies in use are those set by Framer as part of normal website hosting. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

2.4 What we do not collect

We do not collect payment information. Contributions are not open at this stage. When they do open, this policy will be updated to describe how payment information is handled — and payments will be processed only through licensed payment partners, never stored by Secret Maa.

3. Why we collect it

We use your information for these purposes only:

  • To register you as a Secret Maa. Your name, email and mobile number are how we recognise you and stay in touch.

  • To keep you informed. Sign-ups are the heart of this platform. We will email or WhatsApp you about meaningful milestones — when partnerships are confirmed, when the pilot begins, when contributions open, and when audited reports are published. We will not flood your inbox with marketing.

  • To plan delivery and partnerships. Aggregate information about where Secret Maas live (city, state) helps us understand the community standing behind this work and helps shape our partner conversations. Age helps us understand the demographic supporting child nutrition.

  • To respond to you if you write to us, ask a question, or want to partner.

  • To meet legal obligations if any apply to us under Indian law.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever.

4. WhatsApp and email communications

By signing up, you consent to receive updates from Secret Maa by email and WhatsApp at the contact details you provide. These updates relate to the cause and your sign-up. You can opt out of either channel at any time by replying STOP to a WhatsApp message, using the unsubscribe link in our emails, or writing to namaste@secretmaa.org. Opting out of communications does not remove your sign-up unless you also ask us to delete your data.

5. Who we share information with

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers who run the platform. Framer (hosting), and any email or WhatsApp messaging provider we use to send you updates. These providers process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

  • NGO and brand partners — only in aggregate. When we tell partners about the strength of the community behind Secret Maa, we share numbers, not people. Your name, email or mobile number is not handed to partners. If we ever need to share identifiable information with a partner — for example, to fulfil a specific commitment you opt into — we will ask for your explicit consent first.

  • If required by law. If a court, regulator or law enforcement authority validly requires us to disclose information, we will comply to the extent required.

  • In the unlikely event of a transfer. If Secret Maa's operations are ever transferred to a successor entity carrying forward the same mission, your information may be transferred as part of that, subject to the same protections set out here.

We do not share your data with brand partners, advertisers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

6. How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including limiting access to those who need it to do the work, using reputable hosting and messaging providers, and securing accounts that touch your data.

No system is perfectly secure. We commit to telling you promptly if anything material happens to data you have entrusted to us.

7. How long we keep it

We keep sign-up information for as long as you remain a Secret Maa, plus a reasonable period after, so we can show — to ourselves and to our auditors — the timeline of how this community was built. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so, unless we are required to retain something specific for legal reasons.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the information we hold about you.

  • Correct anything that is inaccurate.

  • Delete your information ("be forgotten") and unsubscribe from our communications.

  • Withdraw consent to email or WhatsApp updates without losing your sign-up status, if you would like to remain a Secret Maa quietly.

  • Object to any specific use of your information that you are not comfortable with.

To exercise any of these rights, write to namaste@secretmaa.org with the email or mobile number you signed up with. We will respond within a reasonable time and at the latest within 30 days.

9. Children's data

Secret Maa exists to support children, but it is not for children to sign up themselves. The sign-up form is intended for individuals aged 18 and above. If you believe a minor has signed up using your contact details without your permission, write to us and we will remove the entry.

We deliberately do not collect, request, store or display names, photographs or identifying details of the children supported through Secret Maa. A child in need is not a story to be observed. Their dignity is protected first.

10. International users

Secret Maa is based in India and primarily serves the Indian community. If you sign up from outside India, your information will be processed in India. By signing up, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy will evolve as Secret Maa evolves — particularly when contributions open and additional financial and regulatory considerations come into play. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page

  • Notify every registered Secret Maa by email or WhatsApp before the change takes effect

You can always review the current version at secretmaa.org/utility/privacy-policy.

12. Contact us

For anything related to your information, your sign-up, or this policy:

Email: namaste@secretmaa.org

We will reply.
